Saints QB Taysom Hill (knee) returned to a limited practice on Friday and is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Bucs. The versatile Hill's absence would be a tangible blow to New Orleans' offense -- but boost the outlooks for QB Drew Brees and RB Alvin Kamara.
New Saints HC Dennis Allen said Tuesday that QB Taysom Hill will have a role shift in 2022. According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Hill will focus primarily on TE this year. Hill has just 34 career receptions, with more than half of those (19) coming in 2019. He, of course, has played varied roles for the Saints in his time. If you play DFS, you might remember 2 years ago when Hill got the surprise start over Jameis Winston at QB after Drew Brees went down and carried a TE designation on FanDuel. We'll see how league-hosting sites elect to treat Hill in 2022. We wouldn't bet on him attaining regular fantasy relevance at any position, though -- barring an injury to Winston and return to starting QB. Adam Trautman should be the team's lead TE.
Saints insider Nick Underhill reports that HC Sean Payton is retiring. Payton has been at the helm in New Orleans since 2006, leading the Saints to an incredible 13 top-10 finishes in total offense. He's 1 of the best offensive minds in the game, so this is a big loss for guys like RB Alvin Kamara and WR Michael Thomas. We're also curious to see what the new coaching staff's plans are for Taysom Hill.
Saints HC Sean Payton said Monday that QB Taysom Hill will have 2 surgeries to repair the Lisfranc injury in his left foot. The 1st procedure will repair the injury with a piece of hardware; the 2nd will be later to remove that hardware. Payton didn't have a projected timeline for recovery for Hill. But, based on the fact that Hill needs 2 surgeries, former NFL head team Dr. David Chao expects him to be sidelined for 6-9 months. The long end of that timetable would threaten his availability for the start of the 2022 campaign. We'll monitor Hill's rehab this offseason.
Saints QB Taysom Hill was knocked out of Sunday's game vs. the Falcons with what HC Sean Payton told Fox's Laura Okmin is a Lisfranc injury to his left foot. We'll look for more details, but that's an issue that'll likely keep Hill from playing in the playoffs if New Orleans gets there. Hill's absence would leave QB Trevor Siemian as the Saints' starter.
Saints QB Taysom Hill has been activated from the COVID list. He should be back under center vs. the Panthers on Sunday and will be a low-end QB1 option for Week 17 fantasy lineups.
