The Cardinals signed WR A.J. Green. No word yet on the terms, but it's likely a cheap, 1-year deal. After playing in just 9 games across 2018 and 2019, Green played all 16 last season -- but set career lows with an ugly 45.2% catch rate and 11.1 yards per catch. He ranked 79th in yards per route run and 66th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade among 84 WRs with 50+ targets. Green turns 33 in July and might just be out of gas. He figures to be no better than 3rd in line for targets in Arizona behind WRs DeAndre Hopkins and Christian Kirk. We'll see if WR Andy Isabella is ready to take on a bigger role in 2021.
Update: It's a 1-year deal worth "up to" $8.5 million with $6 million guaranteed, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
The Cardinals re-signed WR A.J. Green to a 1-year deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Green enjoyed a small bounce-back in 2021, posting a 54-848-3 line in 16 games. He ranked 57th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade and 54th in yards per route run among 90 WRs with 50+ targets last year. Arizona has 156 targets available with the offseason departures of WR Christian Kirk and RB Chase Edmonds. But if WR DeAndre Hopkins has a healthier season and WR Rondale Moore's role expands, Green is unlikely to significantly beat last year's 92 targets. He's an unexciting pick in early fantasy drafts.
Cardinals WR A.J. Green has been activated from the COVID list. He'll return for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers. But his fantasy value hinges on the status of teammates Kyler Murray, DeAndre Hopkins and Rondale Moore.
Cardinals WR A.J. Green remains on the COVID list as of Friday night and is not expected to be cleared for Sunday's game vs. the 49ers. WR DeAndre Hopkins is a game-time decision with his hamstring injury, leaving Christian Kirk, Rondale Moore, Antoine Wesley and Andy Isabella as Arizona's healthy WRs.
The Cardinals placed WR A.J. Green on the COVID list. If he's vaccinated, he'll have a chance to get cleared in time for Sunday's game vs. the 49ers. But, for now, fantasy owners shouldn't plan on having him in Week 9 lineups. If Green is out, Arizona could shift WR Christian Kirk to the outside and make WR Rondale Moore the full-time slot receiver.
Cardinals WR A.J. Green is sidelined with a "minor issue," HC Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday. Kingsbury wouldn't divulge any other details but did say that he expects Green back sooner rather than later, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss. Green was reportedly having a strong start to camp before this injury. We'll see when he's able to get back on the field.
