The Raiders have released WR James Jones.  The 31-year-old led the team in targets (111), catches (73) and TDs (6) last year.  But he averaged an ugly 9.1 yards per catch.  With the additions of WRs Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree, Jones would have been no better than 3rd on the 2015 depth chart.  His release saves the Raiders $3.4 million against the cap.  Rod Streater is the favorite to serve as the #3 WR this season, with Andre Holmes also in the mix.

The Chargers have released WR James Jones. The 32-year-old hauled in 7 balls in 3 preseason outings but averaged just 9.9 yards per catch. His release is a vote of confidence for WR Tyrell Jones, who's locked in as San Diego's #3 WR. He's on the radar as a late-round flier.

The Chargers have signed WR James Jones, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a sign that WR Stevie Johnson will miss significant time with the torn meniscus he suffered on Sunday. Jones is 32 but still had gas left in the tank last year, posting a 50-890-8 line in Green Bay. He caught 73 balls the previous season for the Raiders, although they went for just 666 yards (9.1 YPC). Jones is probably the favorite for the Chargers' #3 gig as long as Johnson is sidelined. He'll need to hold off Dontrelle Inman, Tyrell Williams and Javontee Herndon.

Packers WR James Jones was added to Thursday's injury report with a quad.  He was listed as a limited participant.  It's still unclear whether Jones injured the quad during practice or is just getting some mid-week rest.  Check back tomorrow for an update.

Packers WR James Jones is listed on the 2nd team behind WR Davante Adams on the team's updated depth chart.  That suggests that Jones is Green Bay's #3 WR.  (Ty Montgomery is listed behind Randall Cobb; Jeff Janis on the 3rd team behind Jones.)  Jones doesn't have much gas left in his tank, but the #3 spot in the Packers' offense could make him a viable spot start option in fantasy.  We'll be keeping a close eye on how the WR snaps are divvied in this weekend's opener against the Bears.

The Packers have signed WR James Jones.  The 31-year-old averaged just 9.1 yards per catch in Oakland last year and was cut by the Giants earlier this week.  But he's familiar with the Packers offense and QB Aaron Rodgers, spending the first 7 years of his career in Green Bay.  Ideally, Jones will serve as a veteran presence and #5 WR this season.  But he could move up the depth chart if Ty Montgomery and/or Jeff Janis struggle.  He's worth stashing in deep fantasy leagues and monitoring in all others.
