Shark Bites

Jets DE Sheldon Richardson played 49 of 63 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over Washington, his 1st game back after a 4-week suspension. According to NJ.com, Richardson played in every defensive package except for the base 3-4 look, which the Jets didn't use much against Washington. HC Todd Bowles instead opted for a 4-3 front that got Richardson on the field with Muhammad Wilkerson and Leonard Williams. Wilkerson played 59 snaps, and Williams played 57. We see no reason why the Jets wouldn't continue such usage. OLB Quinton Coples spent much less time on the field than usual, but he has yet to register a sack this season. Less Coples would be no big loss to the Jets or IDP owners. Richardson belongs on a roster in most IDP leagues at this point. And the Jets' D looks pretty good going forward.

Recent Shark Bites

Jets DC Jeff Ulbrich said this week that the team has a "hard-and-fast" rule about D-linemen playing no more than 30-35 snaps per game, according to Connor Hughes of The Athletic. The goal is obviously to keep the defensive front fresh throughout the game. The downside for IDP purposes, of course, is that limited playing time for Quinnen Williams, Carl Lawson, John Franklin-Myers and Jermaine Johnson can limit their stat upside. We'll see just how hard-and-fast that rule is, though. Williams exceeded 35 snaps in 10 of his 15 games last season, and he was coming off an offseason foot fracture. For now, we'll treat this more as something to watch in season than a reason to alter draft outlooks -- especially because none of the aforementioned Jets sit too high in the IDP rankings.

Jets LB C.J. Mosley (back) and DT Quinnen Williams (shoulder) are active for today's game against the Jaguars.

Jets LB C.J. Mosley (back) and DT Quinnen Williams (shoulder) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Both players finished the week with a full Friday practice, though, and seem on track to play. We'll confirm their status Sunday morning.

The Jets entered Sunday's game against the Patriots with LB C.J. Mosley (hamstring) inactive and Jarrad Davis (ankle) not yet back from IR. The defense then watched LBs Jamien Sherwood (calf), Quincy Williams (concussion) and Blake Cashman (groin) leave the game. We'll have to watch the whole situation to see who's in for next Sunday's game against the Bengals. If healthy, Mosley should remain a full-time starter. Davis' return would complicate the outlook for Williams, though.

The Jets announced Friday that S Marcus Maye has opened training camp on the non-football injury list. DT Quinnen Williams landed on the active/PUP list. Williams' designation isn't surprising after his foot fracture in early May. It's not clear what Maye's issue is. We'll see how soon each starter gets activated.
