Kessler out for Week 12 | Shark Bites | Draft Sharks

Browns QB Cody Kessler (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game against the Giants. QB Josh McCown draws the start but is only a lower-end option in 2-QB leagues.

Recent Shark Bites

Browns HC Hue Jackson said Wednesday that QB Cody Kessler will open training camp as the starter. As expected. Kessler, despite entering just his 2nd NFL season, is the only 1 of Cleveland's top 3 QBs who was with the team last year. Rookie DeShone Kizer and Brock Osweiler both remain in the mix, though, per Jackson. Kizer worked in with the starters in June minicamp, while Osweiler was with the 2nd team. We'll keep an eye on this one, although whoever starts for Cleveland will be just a lower-end QB2 in fantasy football.

Browns QB Cody Kessler sustained a concussion in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Steelers. It's his 2nd concussion of the season. We'll track his progress through the league's protocol.

Browns HC Hue Jackson said after Thursday night's loss that Cody Kessler remains his starting QB. "Cody's still the QB. I took Cody out because I wanted a spark," Jackson said. "I wanted to try a veteran." The move to Josh McCown backfired big time. The veteran completed just 6 of 13 passes for 59 yards, 0 TDs and 2 INTs over the game's final 30 minutes. The Browns might go 0-16.

Browns QB Cody Kessler was benched at halftime of Thursday night's game against the Ravens. The Akron Beacon Journal's Nate Ulrich confirms that Kessler is not injured. That was our 1st guess because the rookie wasn't bad in the first 30 minutes, completing 11 of 18 passes for 91 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs. Cleveland scored just 7 points, though, and has turned to veteran QB Josh McCown.

Browns HC Hue Jackson announced on Friday that QB Cody Kessler will start this weekend's game against the Cowboys. It's a smart move for a team already looking ahead to 2017 to get another look at its rookie. Kessler has played surprisingly well this season, completing 66.9% of his passes, averaging 7.1 yards per attempt and tossing 4 TDs vs. 1 INT. He remains a low-upside QB2 in fantasy football, though, and is a slight downgrade for Cleveland's pass-catchers.
