Browns QB Tyrod Taylor got his left wrist bent back awkwardly in the 1st quarter of Thursday night's preseason game against the Eagles. He quickly headed back to the locker room with trainers. We'll look for an update on Taylor's status. His absence would leave 1st overall pick Baker Mayfield as Cleveland's starting QB.

Update: Taylor returned to the game in the 2nd quarter.

Recent Shark Bites

Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor (chest) is out for Week 4. QB Justin Herbert will make his 3rd straight start but is a lower-end QB2 vs. a tough Bucs defense.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor is dealing with a punctured lung. Per Schefter, the Chargers’ team doctor accidentally punctured Taylor’s lung while giving a pain-killing injection. Unbelievable. Taylor still belongs on rosters in deep superflex formats, but rookie Justin Herbert will make his second start Sunday against Carolina.

Update: Schefter adds that doctors are advising Taylor to remain out "indefinitely." We'll watch for updates to that timeline, but it sounds like time to drop him for Herbert.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor (chest) is not likely to be ready for Sunday's game against the Panthers. That means QB Justin Herbert gets another start. HC Anthony Lynn says a healthy Taylor is still his starter -- but another strong outing from the rookie might alter that thinking. Herbert is worth grabbing in all 2-QB and superflex leagues, and deeper 1-QB setups.

The Chargers consider QB Tyrod Taylor "week to week" with the chest injury that kept him out of Sunday's OT loss to the Chiefs, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That leaves the team unsure of who will start against Carolina in Week 3 as of now. Unless Taylor returns to 100% by the weekend -- which isn't usually the case for an injury a team dubs "week to week" -- this should be incentive for L.A. to give rookie Justin Herbert another start. If he delivers another strong performance, it'd be tough to turn back. And if he falters, the Chargers could just say they're going back to their healthy "starter." If Herbert does play Week 3, he'll carry big fantasy upside against what has been a generous Panthers defense through 2 games.

The Chargers released a statement Sunday night, saying QB Tyrod Taylor had difficulty breathing just before kickoff and was then taken to the hospital. Taylor was later discharged, but the team has given no details on his ailment other than that it's a chest issue. "His status for next Sunday's game will be determined later in the week," the statement said. We'll see where this goes and how that affects Justin Herbert.
