Ravens RB Ty Montgomery is a surprise inactive for today's game against the Bucs. That leaves the backfield to Gus Edwards, Kenneth Dixon and Buck Allen. Dixon's volume has been on the rise, and he's in play as a RB3 or flex this weekend.

Ravens RB Ty Montgomery is a healthy scratch after arriving via trade earlier this week. That keeps RB Buck Allen in the change-of-pace, pass-catching role.

The Packers have traded RB Ty Montgomery to the Ravens for a 2020 7th-round pick -- or, basically, a bag of balls. Montgomery, of course, just cost Green Bay a chance to come back and beat the Rams by fumbling on a kickoff return. He hasn't been a big part of the offense this year, averaging just 3.7 carries and 3.3 targets per game. His departure certainly doesn't hurt RB Aaron Jones' rest-of-season outlook, though. In Baltimore, Montgomery figures to step into a similar change-of-pace, pass-catching role. He'll steal a handful of looks from Alex Collins and Buck Allen but is unlikely to emerge as a fantasy asset.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy said after Friday night's preseason game that RB Ty Montgomery's foot injury is "nothing of a serious nature." We'll see when he's able to get back on the field, but it sounds like he's tentatively on track for Week 1. Montgomery will open the season in a pass-catching role behind lead back Jamaal Williams.

Packers RB Ty Montgomery left Friday night’s exhibition at Oakland with an unspecified foot injury. We’ll see how serious the issue is.

Ty Montgomery disappointed in his chance at lead-back duties for the Packers last year. He averaged just 3.8 yards per carry and missed 8 games with injuries. But he's still set to play a significant role in Green Bay's 2018 offense, ESPN's Rob Demovsky confirms. Montgomery showed well in OTAs and "didn't appear to lose any ground" to RBs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, according to Demovsky. Montgomery averaged 5.9 yards per carry and caught 44 balls in more of a change-of-pace role back in 2016. He finished that season 33rd among RBs in PPR points. There's certainly room for him to return to that type of production this season. And Montgomery is being selected just 47th among RBs in recent best-ball drafts.
