The Ravens selected Notre Dame WR Miles Boykin in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Boykin crushed the Combine, posting a 4.42-second 40 time and 43.5-inch vertical at 6’4 and 220 pounds. It earned him a 99.9th percentile SPARQ score. Boykin’s production at Notre Dame never matched that raw ability, though. He totaled just 18 grabs across his first 3 seasons before posting a 59-872-8 line this past year. All 3 of those marks led the Irish. But Boykin’s market shares — 22.0% of the catches, 26.1% of the yards and 34.8% of the TDs — rank 33rd, 29th and 16th among the 48 WRs at the Combine. He also finished just 68th in this WR class in yards per route run, according to Pro Football Focus. Boykin’s physical profile is super intriguing and gives him big fantasy upside. But he’s a high-risk prospect who might never reach his potential. That boom/bust profile is only amplified with this landing spot alongside QB Lamar Jackson.
The Steelers claimed WR Miles Boykin off waivers from the Ravens. It's a fine landing spot considering Anthony Miller is currently the favorite for Pittsburgh's #3 WR job behind Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool. But Boykin will need to show us a lot more than he did in Baltimore before we consider him a fantasy target.
The Ravens released WR Miles Boykin. The 2019 3rd-rounder has struggled with injuries and totaled just 33 catches over his first 3 NFL seasons. We'll see where Boykin lands next, but his dynasty value is on life support. Marquise Brown and Rashod Bateman are locked in as Baltimore's top 2 WRs heading into 2022, with Devin Duvernay, James Proche and Tylan Wallace currently rounding out the depth chart.
Ravens WR Miles Boykin caught just 13 balls as a rookie last year. But WRs coach David Culley likes the growth he's seen from Boykin this offseason. "Basically, I’m starting to see right now ... that he’s starting show his 6-4, 225, because he’s comfortable in our system," Culley said. "He knows what we’re doing right now. He’s playing much faster and he’s playing stronger." Boykin is in line to be in Baltimore's starting lineup opposite WR Marquise Brown this season. He'll likely be 3rd in line for targets (behind Brown and TE Mark Andrews) in a run-heavy offense, so weekly consistency might be tough to come by. But we like him as a late-round flier in best-ball drafts.
Ravens WR Miles Boykin has had a strong 1st week of training camp, prompting The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec to write that the rookie "is playing himself into a prominent role on offense." Although he didn't post huge numbers at Notre Dame, Boykin goes 6'4, 220 pounds with 4.4 speed and a 43.5-inch vertical. There's plenty of upside here -- and plenty of opportunity in a wide-open Ravens WR corps. We just bumped Boykin up the rankings and will be keeping a close eye on his usage this preseason.
