Ebron and Doyle ready for camp | Shark Bites | Draft Sharks

Colts TEs Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle were on the field for the 1st day of training camp on Thursday. Both guys are coming off surgery -- groin for Ebron and hip for Doyle -- but are clearly on track for Week 1. We'll be watching this situation closely for clues on how snaps and targets will be divvied among Colts TEs. Doyle actually out-targeted Ebron 33 to 22 in their 6 games together last year.

Recent Shark Bites

TE Eric Ebron is signing a 2-year, $12 million deal with the Steelers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. A 1st-round bust for Detroit, Ebron rehabbed his value a bit in Indianapolis with 41.7 yards and .59 TDs per game over the past 2 seasons. Last year, he ranked 14th in Pro Football Focus' receiving grades and 9th in yards per route run among 35 TEs with 40+ targets. In Pittsburgh, Ebron joins a TE group with Vance McDonald, who restructured his contract earlier this week. Those guys could vulture production from each other, leaving both as unreliable fantasy options. We'll see how the situation plays out this summer.

Colts TE Eric Ebron needs surgery on both of his ankles and will be placed on IR, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Ebron is averaging 4.7 targets and 2.8 catches per game. A big chunk of that work now figures to go to TE Jack Doyle, who has a shot at top-12 production the rest of the way. TE Mo Alie-Cox should also see a bump in playing time. He's worth monitoring and perhaps adding now in deep fantasy leagues.

Colts TE Eric Ebron (ankle) is active for tonight’s game against the Texans. He was listed as a full participant on Wednesday, so we’re expecting him to be available for his usual role in this one.

Colts TE Eric Ebron (ankle) is questionable for Thursday night's game against the Texans. He was listed as a full-go on Wednesday's estimated practice report, so we're expecting Ebron to play. We'll get his official status around 7 pm ET tomorrow night.

Colts TE Eric Ebron missed Tuesday's practice and is listed on the injury report with an ankle. We didn't notice him get dinged in last weekend's win over the Jaguars, so he might just be getting some rest on the short week. Check back tomorrow for another update.
