Browns MLB Joe Schobert is questionable for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. A groin issue popped up Thursday to limit Schobert's practice, but he returned to full participation Friday. We've seen no indication he's in danger of missing the game, but we'll check Schobert's status Sunday morning.
New Steelers LB Joe Schobert revealed big plans for his usage after his 1st practice with the team Sunday. According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Schobert says the Steelers have him learning the dime role and plan to have him wear the green dot and call plays in the huddle. Both of those aspects point to full playing time and Schobert likely leading the position group in snaps. The "dime" package generally includes just 1 LB. And the helmet with the green dot -- and radio inside -- can only be worn by 1 player on the field at a time. So bet on Schobert leading Pittsburgh's ILB group in fantasy points, just as he did with his 1st 2 teams. This is bad news for LB Devin Bush. LB Robert Spillane, meanwhile, returns to a backup role.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that a trade is "in the works" to send Jaguars LB Joe Schobert to the Steelers. We'll have to do some sorting out in each defense once the move becomes official. At the moment, though, Damien Wilson looks like the next ILB up behind Schobert in Jacksonville. Myles Jack is the bet for every-down duty at the position, though. In Pittsburgh, Schobert figures to push Robert Spillane out of the lineup. We're also betting on Schobert outscoring Devin Bush in fantasy. Bush's presence might lower the tackle ceiling for Schobert.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that LB Joe Schobert has agreed to a 5-year deal with the Jaguars worth $53.75 million, including $22.5 million guaranteed. That should position Schobert as the MLB starter in a Jacksonville defense with new questions in the LB corps. Does Myles Jack slide out from the middle to start on the weak side in 2020? Will Telvin Smith return from his 2019 personal-life hiatus? And if so, where will he play? We'll see about those. What we can count on is Schobert heading into 2020 with the group's strongest IDP outlook. Back in Cleveland, meanwhile, 2019 rookies Mack Wilson and Sione Takitaki appear to have clear lanes to starting gigs, with Schobert and Christian Kirksey gone. We'll see if the Browns add anyone else at the position.
Browns MLB Joe Schobert (groin) is active for today's game against the Dolphins. He's ready to use as you normally would in IDP lineups. Despite the "questionable" tag, we never saw any indication that Schobert was in danger of missing the game.
