Texans RBs Duke Johnson (neck) and C.J. Prosise (ankle) have been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Colts. David Johnson is now a candidate to handle 100% of Houston's RB touches. The matchup isn't ideal, but Johnson is a volume-based RB2 candidate.
After watching 3 more RBs get banged up in Sunday's victory at Philadelphia, the 49ers are having free agents Duke Johnson and Lamar Miller in for visits this week, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. We'll see whether anyone signs and what the statuses are for the Niners' existing stable. San Francisco already has Kerryon Johnson on the practice squad as well.
The Jaguars released RB Duke Johnson from their practice squad. HC Urban Meyer is evidently happy with James Robinson and old pal Carlos Hyde in the backfield.
The Jaguars are signing RB Duke Johnson to their practice squad, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. That means any team could still sign Johnson at any point. Of course, that's also been true throughout this offseason. We'll see if Johnson ever returns to fantasy relevance. Landing on a practice squad at least gets him on the deep-league radar. And he could be a Carlos Hyde or James Robinson injury away from joining the active roster.
The Texans released RB Duke Johnson, saving about $5 million against the 2021 salary cap. Johnson sputtered to career-low 3.1 yards per carry this past season, although he still averaged a strong 8.9 yards on 28 grabs. He was never more than a role player for the Texans, though, reaching 15 touches in a game just once. Johnson has now played for multiple NFL coaching staffs, and none have deemed him more than a change-of-pace back. We'll see where he lands, but it'd be unwise to expect his role to change much on his new team.
