The 49ers signed WR Mohamed Sanu to a 1-year deal. The 31-year-old totaled just 17 catches across 10 outings with San Francisco and Detroit this past season. But he'd tallied 59+ grabs in each of the previous 4 years -- and even cost the Patriots a 2nd-round pick in a trade back in 2019. We'll see how much gas is left in Sanu's tank this summer. The 'Niners are thin at WR behind Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, so there's a chance for Sanu to win the #3 WR job.
The 49ers on Tuesday reached a deal with WR Mohamed Sanu. The former Falcon spent 2016 with Niners HC Kyle Shanahan as his OC in Atlanta. Sanu failed to make the Patriots' regular-season roster this year, though, just months after New England traded a 2nd-round pick to acquire him. That suggests we shouldn't expect a whole lot from the veteran wideout. His signing follows WR Deebo Samuel landing on IR. Shanahan has said, however, that he'll "be surprised" if rookie WR Brandon Aiyuk isn't ready to play in Week 2.
The Patriots are releasing WR Mohamed Sanu, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It seems like a surprise, but ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss had projected less than a day earlier that Sanu would miss the 53-man roster. It officially makes New England's trade for the wideout last year an awful move. We'll see if Sanu lands elsewhere, but he's certainly not worth clinging to in any format. Sanu's departure leaves more room for WRs such as Damiere Byrd and Gunner Olszewski.
Patriots WRs Mohamed Sanu (ankle) and Phillip Dorsett (concussion) are active for tonight’s game against the Texans. Dorsett should be a full-go after clearing the protocol on Wednesday. Sanu comes with a bit more risk, although he did put in 3 limited practices this week.
Patriots WRs Mohamed Sanu (ankle) and Phillip Dorsett (concussion) are listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game against the Texans. Both guys were limited in practice all week. Sanu is reportedly dealing with a high-ankle sprain, so consider him no better than 50/50 for this one. Dorsett said Wednesday that he cleared the concussion protocol, but the fact that he remained limited all week is slightly concerning. We’ll look for updates on both guys Sunday morning.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu's injured ankle has "improved rapidly," giving him a "slim chance" to play against the Cowboys today. Rapoport adds that Sanu would be "extremely limited" if he ends up active. Avoid him in Week 12 fantasy lineups.
