49ers WR Anquan Boldin (hamstring) is active for today’s game against the Seahawks. In Seattle at less than 100% and with Blaine Gabbert under center, Boldin isn’t a recommended fantasy start.

Recent Shark Bites

WR Anquan Boldin has informed the Bills that he's retiring, according to ESPN's Jim Trotter. "My life's purpose is bigger than football," Boldin said in a statement. Or, he simply decided against a season with a Bills team that's clearly in rebuilding mode. Boldin's departure leaves Jordan Matthews and Zay Jones as the team's clear-cut top 2 WRs. Both guys get a boost up the WR rankings -- although we're finding it tough to get excited about any member of this Buffalo passing game.

The Bills have signed WR Anquan Boldin to a 1-year, $2.75 million deal. Boldin turns 37 in October but remained effective last year, posting a 67-584-8 line. He averaged just 8.7 yards per catch but caught 70.5% of his targets and was the team's top option in the red zone. Boldin figures to take over slot duties in Buffalo. He'll battle WR Zay Jones and TE Charles Clay for target behind top dog Sammy Watkins. In a low-volume passing game, Boldin will probably struggle for WR3 value. His arrival also hurts Jones' 2017 projection. The rookie figures to start on the outside but has more target competition on his hands.

WR Anquan Boldin reiterated this week that he plans to return for a 15th season. He told ESPN's Jim Trotter that he'll probably sign closer to training camp, as Boldin did with the Lions last July. He finished 2nd on the team with 67 receptions while leading the Lions with 8 TD catches in 2016. Detroit and Baltimore have reportedly showed interest in the veteran for 2017.

The Lions have signed WR Anquan Boldin to a 1-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 35-year-old remained useful last season, hauling in 69 balls for 789 yards and 4 scores in a bad 49ers offense. That 11.4 yards per catch was his worst since 2004, though. Boldin is nothing more than a short-range possession target at this point, leaving him without much fantasy upside. He figures to slide in as Detroit's #3 WR behind Golden Tate and Marvin Jones. Boldin's work near the line of scrimmage could take a bit out of Tate and TE Eric Ebron's targets.

49ers WR Anquan Boldin (hamstring) was limited in practice all week and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. He’s expected to play, but in Seattle at less than 100%, he’s not a recommended fantasy start.
