Colts lose Davis, gain Anderson

The Colts defense got good news and very bad news on Monday. The good: DE Henry Anderson got activated from the PUP and will rejoin the team for the 1st time since suffering an ACL tear to end his rookie season. The bad: Top CB Vontae Davis is expected to miss at least the 1st month of the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Davis suffered a medial ankle sprain in practice last Thursday and has ligament damage. We'll see whether that will cost him more than the 1st 4 games. Indy signed free-agent CB Antonio Cromartie on Monday to fill in. Cromartie has had terrific seasons in the league, but it's also telling that he sat available this far into the offseason. We'll see how he looks. The secondary has also been operating without presumed starting FS Clayton Geathers throughout camp (foot) but expects to get him back at practice this week. All told, there's not much to get excited about in an already shaky defense.

Colts DT DeForest Buckner and CB Kenny Moore are both active for today's game against the Jaguars. Each player turned up questionable with a hip injury but is in play for IDP lineups.

The Colts have activated DE Tyquan Lewis and S Rodney McLeod from the physically unable to perform list. Each guy has been working back from a knee issue, and it appears each is now ready for regular training camp participation.

The Colts went without several defensive starters in Wednesday's practice. LB Darius Leonard (ankle), DE Kwity Paye (hamstring), S Khari Willis (ankle, groin) and CB Rock Ya-Sin (ankle) all missed the workout. Leonard sustained his injury last week and missed Thursday's practice before playing through it at Tennessee. The other 3 left Sunday's game early. We'll see about the progress for each throughout the week.

The Colts have activated DT DeForest Buckner and DL Denico Autry off the COVID list. Both starters missed last week's game against the Titans, helping RB Derrick Henry to a huge rushing day. David Johnson -- assuming he's activated from IR in time -- won't be so fortunate in this Sunday's matchup. Both Buckner and Autry belong in IDP consideration for Week 13. Colts LB Anthony Walker (ribs) and S Khari Willis (ribs, shoulder) are active for today's game against the Titans. Neither is a high-level IDP option, but they're in play for deeper leagues. Walker should gain playing time with LB Bobby Okereke out (ankle).
