The Bears believe WR Kevin White suffered a broken scapula (shoulder blade) in Sunday's loss to the Falcons, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That'd send White to injured reserve and likely end his season. If that's the case, White will have played just 5 games through 3 NFL seasons. It'd also leave the Bears with Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton, Deonte Thompson and Josh Bellamy at WR.
Bears HC John Fox confirmed on Monday that WR Kevin White is headed to the IR with a fractured scapula suffered in Week 1. It sounds like he's done for the season (and not a candidate for the "designated-to-return" spot). White will be 26 years old and have played in just 5 NFL games when the 2018 season kicks off. His dynasty stock is fading fast. Chicago is now left with Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton and Deonte Thompson at WR. We could see TEs Zach Miller and Dion Sims and RB Tarik Cohen play big passing-game roles the rest of the way.
Bears WR Kevin White was ruled out after injuring his shoulder in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Falcons. He hauled in just 2 of 4 targets for 6 yards before exiting. Stay tuned for an update.
Bears WR Kevin White had a disappointing training camp, according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Mark Potash. "At this point it remains to be seen if White still has the speed and other skills that made him the No. 7 pick of the 2015 draft. We just don’t see it out there," Potash writes. The former 1st-rounder went catch-less in Chicago's preseason opener. White retains theoretical upside thanks to his size/athleticism combination and opportunity in Chicago, but we've yet to see or hear anything this summer to suggest that he'll cash in on it.
Bears WR Kevin White is "back to full speed," according to the Chicago Tribune's Rich Campbell. White has missed 28 of 32 games over his first 2 NFL seasons with leg injuries. He spent the early portion of this offseason reteaching himself to run with proper alignment and technique, per Campbell. But White's now on to sharpening his route running. "We've been working on that hard, some of his breaking-point stuff," WRs coach Zach Azzanni said. "A lot of times when you're a big guy like that, stopping and change of direction is hard." White remains a major question mark but has tons of opportunity in 2017 on a Bears team without an established #1 WR. He's a fine shot to take at his current 12th-round ADP.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune gave a Monday update on the Bears' 1st-round pick from last year: "As it stands, as I understand #Bears WR Kevin White is not going to return from IR this season. So, it's going to be [CB Kyle] Fuller or no one." That followed a tweet in which Biggs said the team will evaluate Fuller to see if he's ready to return from IR. Each team can designate only 1 player to return from IR during a given season. Fantasy owners likely weren't counting on White for any further production this season, but take note if you're been stashing the youngster in an IR slot. Fuller, by the way, doesn't carry much IDP intrigue right now but could help the team D.
