Shark Bites

The Dolphins on Tuesday suspended LB Lawrence Timmons indefinitely. The veteran, of course, went AWOL as his team was getting ready to open its season against the Chargers. He reportedly showed up at Steelers practices in Pittsburgh over the weekend, though former teammates and coaches reportedly wouldn't comment on the situation. Miami started LB Chase Allen in Timmons' spot against the Chargers, but Allen played only 14 snaps. MLB Mike Hull joined OLB Kiko Alonso for all 58 of the team's defensive snaps. We'll see how Rey Maualuga fits into the picture once he's healthy enough to play. For now, Alonso is the safest IDP bet among Dolphins LBs. Hull carries Week 3 upside against the Jets -- barring word that his role will change by then. Fantasy owners should drop Timmons.

Recent Shark Bites

The Dolphins reinstated LB Lawrence Timmons this week, marking just a 1-week suspension after he went AWOL ahead of the Week 2 win over the Chargers. HC Adam Gase, however, has yet to commit to Timmons returning to the field Sunday in London. "We worked through a couple of things," Gase said, per ESPN.com. "L.T. handled the business he needed to handle and I'm glad he's back." We're keeping Timmons our of our Week 4 IDP rankings until/unless there's clarity on his role against the Saints. Timmons looks like a solid addition to IDP rosters for beyond Week 4, though. Miami needs him back in the lineup.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Dolphins LB Lawrence Timmons told the team he's ready to return and get back onto the field. We have yet to see any details on the situation that took him away from Sunday's game, but he was reportedly dealing with a personal matter and is now "doing much better." Timmmons was reportedly scheduled to meet with doctors Monday -- of the psychological variety, we're guessing. We'll see about any further details/developments. But for now, IDP owners should assume the veteran will be back in play for Week 3.

Dolphins LB Lawrence Timmons is not expected to play today against the Chargers, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. Apparently "something angered him," and Timmons has left the team. Sounds like an odd situation that we'll have to track going forward. For now, get Timmons out of your IDP lineups.

Update: Timmons is officially inactive.

The Dolphins on Friday agreed to a 2-year, $12 million deal with LB Lawrence Timmons. That's starter money, but it's tough to see just how Miami envisions Timmons fitting. The Dolphins also placed a 1st-round tender on LB Kiko Alonso, which pretty much guarantees he won't get any other offers. Alonso manned the middle for Miami in 2016. Either Timmons or Alonso could shift outside in Miami's 4-3 base defense. We'll wait to learn more before projecting IDP values here.

Steelers ILB Lawrence Timmons had to go to the hospital after suffering a left shin injury in Sunday's loss at Philadelphia. He was back with the team after the game, though, and ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports he had a stent on the injured shin. That indicates some sort of bloodflow issue. Timmons reportedly indicated he'd be fine, however. We'll keep an eye on his status heading into Week 4 (and beyond) for IDP lineups. Vince Williams filled in after Timmons left.
