Jets RB Elijah McGuire sustained a fractured foot on Friday. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the 2nd-year RB will undergo surgery and miss an “extended period.” That knocks him off the radar as a late-round flier. Now, New York’s down to Isaiah Crowell and Bilal Powell in the backfield, although they’re hosting Alfred Morris and Orleans Darkwa on free agent visits.
The Jets have released RB Elijah McGuire, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. McGuire made 3 starts for last year's Jets despite losing the 1st half of the season to injury. He worked clearly behind Ty Montgomery this summer, though, and Montgomery heads into the season as the #2 back. Veteran Bilal Powell looks like the 3rd man on the depth chart. McGuire is fine to dump in most dynasty leagues.
The Jets have activated RB Elijah McGuire (foot) from IR, putting him on track to play against the Dolphins this weekend. He would be a desperation Week 9 fantasy start, but he could quickly earn a significant role in this backfield and is worth rostering in most fantasy leagues. McGuire's return dings RB Isaiah Crowell's outlook and kills any PPR value RB Trenton Cannon had.
The Jets have placed RB Elijah McGuire (foot) on IR. He's presumably a candidate to be designated-for-return and play the 2nd half of the season, but he's not worth a roster spot in redraft leagues. Bilal Powell and Isaiah Crowell are locked in as the Jets' top 2 RBs.
Jets HC Todd Bowles conceded Sunday that RB Elijah McGuire won't be ready for Week 1. He's still recovering from late-July surgery to repair a broken foot. Bowles also wouldn't rule out McGuire landing on short-term IR, according to insider Ralph Vacchiano. That'd cost him the first 8 games. McGuire obviously isn't worth a roster spot in redraft leagues. Bilal Powell and Isaiah Crowell will handle backfield duties for the Jets to open the season.
Jets RB Elijah McGuire will undergo surgery on his broken foot and is expected to miss 3-6 weeks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The short end of that timetable would have him back in late August; the long end would keep him out through the season opener. Foot injuries are notoriously tricky to return from, so we're considering McGuire questionable at best for Week 1. He's not worth rostering in most redraft leagues. Look for Bilal Powell to open the season in a pass-catching role behind Isaiah Crowell.
