Rams S Taylor Rapp left in the 1st half of Sunday's win over the Seahawks with a knee injury. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that the team believes Rapp suffered an MCL sprain. That's likely to cost him some further time. Rookie S Jordan Fuller jumped back into the starting lineup in his 1st game back from IR (shoulder injury) on Sunday, but Rapp also opened the game on the field. We'll see how they fit together when both back healthy. For now, though, Rapp's injury makes it easy to expect full playing time for Fuller.
Rams S Taylor Rapp has been missing from camp workouts while dealing with what HC Sean McVay has called a "minor" knee injury. It's not yet clear when Rapp will return to the field, but McVay said this week that he expects Rapp to play in the regular-season opener against Dallas. Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports that Rapp had a "dynamic" day of work with trainers Thursday, which seems like a good sign. Rapp presents significant IDP upside if he's ready for the season. Rookies Terrell Burgess and Jordan Fuller have split reps in Rapp's absence. McVay refused to say which would start in Week 1 if Rapp can't go.
The Rams spent a 2nd-round pick on S Taylor Rapp on Friday night. The former Washington Husky should get a shot at replacing S LaMarcus Joyner, who left for Oakland in free agency. Rapp started for most of his 3 years at Washington, stepping into the lineup and grabbing 4 INTs as a true freshman. He earned 1st-team all-conference honors each of the past 2 years and ranked 2nd on the team in sacks last year with 4. Rapp totaled just 74 solo tackles over the past 2 seasons, though, and might not be in a great spot for tackle collection with the Rams. He looks like a potentially decent IDP option rather than a future stud.
