The Seahawks signed TE Gerald Everett to a 1-year, $6 million deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a "prove-it" deal for a guy who underwhelmed across 4 seasons with the Rams. There might still be untapped upside here, though, for the 26-year-old who was the 44th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. Everett averaged 14.8 yards per catch across 3 college seasons and tested as an 85th percentile athlete. He's getting a big QB upgrade in Seattle -- but the 'Hawks seemingly want to rein in the passing game, while TE Will Dissly also figures to remain involved. That keeps Everett stuck in TE2 territory for now.
The Seattle Times reports that the Seahawks plan to utilize TEs more in the new offense. Not surprisingly, HC Pete Carroll sounds excited about what the team has there. "The tight end spot is really competitive because we don't know who's going to take the bulk of the plays," Carroll says. "We really like the position a lot. We're really fired up about Gerald Everett. We really think he can do a ton, but we're not sure how to mix those guys yet. We've got to find that out as we go through. Colby Parkinson looks exciting too for playing time, and we know Will's in there. So it's a really nice, competitive spot." We're betting on Everett as the lead receiver here for his familiarity with new OC Shane Waldron -- from their time with the Rams -- and receiving ability. The situation will be worth watching through summer, though.
Rams TE Gerald Everett (back) is active for today’s game against the Eagles. He played just 33% of the offensive snaps and saw 2 targets last week.
Rams TE Gerald Everett (back) is questionable for this weekend’s game against the Eagles. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so we’re expecting him to play. Everett figures to need a Tyler Higbee injury to be a fantasy option this season.
Rams TE Gerald Everett did not practice Wednesday because of a back issue. According to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, though, HC Sean McVay "indicated that is more precaution than anything else." An inactive Everett could help Tyler Higbee, but it sounds like Everett should be available. He played 33% of the offensive snaps in the opener and drew 2 targets.
Rams TE Gerald Everett (knee) isn't listed on the final injury report after practicing all week. He'll return for Saturday night's game against the 49ers. Everett isn't a fantasy option but is a concern for TE Tyler Higbee, who was already in a tough spot vs. the league's 3rd-ranked TE defense. Consider Higbee a low-end TE1 for Week 16, despite his recent hot streak.
