Broncos HC Vance Joseph will inform his team on Wednesday that QB Brock Osweiler will start this weekend's game against the Eagles, according to insider Mike Klis. Osweiler, of course, started his career in Denver and actually played OK in relief of Peyton Manning in 2015, completing 61.8% of his passes with 10 TDs and 6 INTs. He bombed in Houston last year, though, posting a 59% completion rate with 15 TDs and 16 INTs. We'll see whether he proves to be an upgrade over QB Trevor Siemian, but Osweiler isn't a Week 9 fantasy option.
Dolphins HC Adam Gase confirmed on Monday that QB Brock Osweiler will start Thursday night's game against the Texans. QB Ryan Tannehill remains without a timetable for return from his shoulder injury. Osweiler has been surprisingly solid over the past 2 weeks, completing 67% of his passes, averaging 8.3 yards per attempt and tossing 5 TDs vs. 2 INTs. Still, he's no better than a low-end QB2 for Week 8.
Broncos QB Brock Osweiler will start today's game against the Redskins, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's relatively good news for Denver's skill-position guys considering QB Paxton Lynch is the alternative. Denver reportedly wants Lynch to start the season finale if his injured ankle is healthy enough.
After listening to Broncos HC Vance Joseph's press conference on Tuesday, insider Mike Klis believes it'd be a "huge surprise" if QB Brock Osweiler isn't named the team's Week 9 starter. QB Trevor Siemian has been abysmal after a solid start to the season, tossing just 3 TDs vs. 8 INTs over his last 5 games. Osweiler, of course, was an utter disaster in Houston last year, so we can't consider him an upgrade. There's a good chance that we see QB Paxton Lynch, who's still recovering from a shoulder injury, at some point this season. The whole situation is a major concern for WRs Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.
The Broncos have signed QB Brock Osweiler. It's a homecoming after he began his career in Denver. There's a new HC and OC since he left after the 2015 season, though. Osweiler will back up QB Trevor Siemian at least until QB Paxton Lynch (shoulder) is available.
The Browns have released QB Brock Osweiler. He supposedly made a push for the starting job in August, but this was always the most likely scenario. Osweiler will latch on elsewhere as a backup. In Cleveland, meanwhile, Cody Kessler will back up rookie DeShone Kizer.
