There were whispers that the Redskins' selection of Stanford RB Bryce Love in the 4th round of the draft was a bad sign for RB Derrius Guice's recovery from last year's torn ACL. HC Jay Gruden said Saturday that that isn't the case and that Guice is on track to be "full-go" before training camp. He reportedly needed 4 surgeries on the injured knee -- 1 to repair the ligament and 3 more to address an infection. Guice's status will be 1 of the bigger storylines in fantasy football come August. Love, of course, is also recovering from a torn ACL suffered in December. He told reporters that he's hoping to be ready at some point during training camp.
Police arrested RB Derrius Guice on Friday afternoon on domestic violence-related charges. According to The Washington Post, Guice faces 1 count of strangulation (a felony), 3 counts of assault and battery and 1 count of destruction of property. Washington swiftly announced that it had released Guice. Unless these charges somehow prove to be baseless, don't expect Guice to be on a roster for the coming NFL season. Adrian Peterson now looks like the lead ball-carrier for Washington, with Antonio Gibson, Bryce Love, Peyton Barber as his current competition. We'll see if the team adds a free agent (*cough* Devonta Freeman *cough*).
The Redskins have placed RB Derrius Guice on IR with his sprained MCL. Smart move for the 3-10 Redskins to just shelve Guice for the final 3 games. This injury isn't serious and shouldn't impact his 2020 offseason -- but durability remains a major concern with Guice. On the other hand, he flashed his immense talent in limited action this year, averaging a big 5.8 yards per carry. He'll be 1 of the bigger risk/reward picks in 2020 fantasy drafts.
Redskins RB Derrius Guice has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Guice has already been ruled out for Week 15. And Rapoport confirms that Washington "will be cautious -- so [Guice] may not play again this season." The good news is that the injury shouldn't impact Guice's offseason.
Washington HC Bill Callahan said Monday that RB Derrius Guice will not play against the Eagles in Week 15, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That's no surprise after Guice sprained a knee ligament in Sunday's loss to the Packers. We'll see if the team brings him back over the final 2 weeks. Adrian Peterson isn't an exciting option against a tough Philly run D, but he should be in for a full rushing workload. That alone makes him a low-end RB2 candidate for fantasy.
Redskins RB Derrius Guice is believed to be dealing with a sprained left MCL, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The severity of that sprain will determine how long Guice is sidelined. It's worth noting that this is the same knee in which he tore the ACL last year. With nothing to play for, the Redskins would be wise to play it safe with Guice. Fantasy owners shouldn't be counting on him the rest of the way.
