The Broncos closed out the 2017 NFL Draft by drafting Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly at the end of Round 7. NFL Network's Mike Mayock called Kelly a 1st- or 2nd-round pick "all day" without his off-field issues. In Denver, he'll enter an interesting QB situation. Trevor Siemian will again compete with 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch under new HC Vance Joseph. There's at least the chance that Lynch never pans out and Kelly works past Siemian. That makes Kelly worth considering at the end of rookie drafts in dynasty leagues, if you're not fired up about the other available talent.
The Broncos have released QB Chad Kelly. The 2017 7th-round was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing early Tuesday morning after breaking into a residence. Kelly has NFL arm talent but a long history of off-field issues. Case Keenum should be safe as Denver's starting QB the rest of the season.
Broncos QB Chad Kelly got 2nd-team reps Monday, with QB Paxton Lynch running the 3rd team, according to Mike Klis of 9News.com. Kelly enjoyed a nice outing in the 1st preseason game, while Lynch continued to struggle. We'll see if this becomes a permanent switch. Dynasty owners, at least, should have Kelly on the radar now. And it might be time to just drop Lynch for him if you've been clinging to the former 1st-round pick.
Update: Joseph confirmed after practice, "Right now, [Kelly's] our backup."
