Rams WR Josh Reynolds revealed Monday that he had surgery after the season to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder. The injury occurred on a punt return in the 4th quarter of L.A.'s playoff loss to the Saints. He's spent most of the offseason rehabbing but is able to participate in this week's OTAs. "I can’t really press block with all the special teams stuff. Other than that, it’s healed," Reynolds said. "I’ll be about 100 percent (by training camp.)" Reynolds caught just 11 balls as a rookie, buried behind Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp and Sammy Watkins on the depth chart. He'll again be the #4 WR this season, with Brandin Cooks stepping into Watkins' role. Reynolds remains a dynasty "hold" but will need an injury to 1 of the Rams' top 3 WRs to have a shot at 2018 fantasy value.
Rams HC Sean McVay said Tuesday that the trade of WR Brandin Cook was “a big vote of confidence” for WR Josh Reynolds. “We just feel he’s a capable starting receiver," McVay added. Reynolds has spent the majority of his first 3 NFL seasons as Los Angeles' #4 WR. But he's been elevated due to injuries to the Rams' other WRs on occasion and fared decently. Reynolds has played 60+% of the offensive snaps in 14 career games and averaged 5.6 targets, 2.9 catches, 38.5 yards and .5 TDs in those outings. Cooks leaves behind an average of 6.3 targets per game over the last 2 seasons, creating a significant opportunity for Reynolds.
The Rams selected Texas A&M WR Josh Reynolds in the 4th round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After spending 2013 at Tyler Junior College, Reynolds arrived at A&M and immediately set the school’s single-season TD record with 13 TDs. He posted a 51-907-5 line in 2015 and a career-best 61-1,039-12 this past year. Reynolds left school with a 17.0 yards-per-catch average and projects as a downfield weapon at the next level. He’s a 6’3, 194-pounder with 4.5 speed and a 37-inch vertical. Reynolds joins 3rd-rounder Cooper Kupp in Los Angeles’ unsettled WR corps.
