Broncos dump Henderson | Shark Bites | Draft Sharks

The Broncos have cut WR Carlos Henderson. That move shouldn't affect anyone's redraft roster for 2018, but it's noteworthy because Henderson arrived as a 3rd-round pick just last year. A thumb injury delayed the start to his rookie season, but Henderson let himself down with a poor offseason and camp. Denver, meanwhile, sports arguably 1 of the league's deepest WR groups after adding Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton in this year's draft. Dynasty owners who had been waiting on Henderson can go ahead and dump him.

Recent Shark Bites

Broncos WR Carlos Henderson has been suspended 1 game for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. After a 0-catch rookie season, Henderson saw Denver add 2 WRs in this year's draft and hasn't even reported to the team since camp opened. He's unlikely to survive final cuts and is far off the redraft radar.

Broncos WR Carlos Henderson was arrested and charged with marijuana possession on Sunday. There's a good chance it nets him a suspension to open the 2018 campaign. Henderson missed his entire rookie season with a torn ligament in his thumb after being a 3rd-rounder last spring. He remains a fine dynasty stash but isn't worth a roster spot in early 2018 fantasy drafts.

The Broncos have placed WR Carlos Henderson (thumb) on IR. He tore a ligament in his thumb in mid-August and simply wasn't ready to contribute this year. Henderson remains a nice dynasty stash. Bennie Fowler looks like Denver's #3 WR to open the season, but Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders will dominate targets.

Broncos WR Carlos Henderson will undergo thumb surgery on Sunday, reports the Denver Post's Nicki Jhabvala. We don't have a timetable for the rookie's return yet, but he'll be hard-pressed to be ready by Week 1. Henderson was battling for the #3 WR job behind Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. We'd still bet on him moving into that role at some point this season, but he's not worth a pick outside of dynasty drafts.

The Broncos used the 82nd overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft to land WR Carlos Henderson. The Louisiana Tech product is the best after-the-catch WR in this draft class — both on tape and by the numbers. He combines acceleration, change-of-direction, tackle-breaking ability and speed to gain chunk yardage with the ball in his hands. He forced 48 missed tackles last year, according to Pro Football Focus — 20 more than any WR since PFF started tracking the stat in 2014. Henderson is less proven before he gets the ball, but he does flash some ball skills. And he has the athleticism to develop into a plus route runner. The 5’11, 199-pounder has Jarvis Landry-esque potential. Henderson has a shot to quickly become Denver’s #3 WR and could eventually develop into a #2.
