ESPN's Josina Anderson reports that Giants S Landon Collins is headed to IR with a shoulder injury that will require surgery. That leaves an already-weak defense without arguably its best player for the final 4 games. It also leaves IDP owners without a top-5 fantasy DB. Michael Thomas looks like the fill-in but would make for a risky lineup replacement in Week 14. We'll see if he gives us a performance that points to usability over the final 2 weeks of most fantasy seasons.
Washington has ruled SS Landon Collins (shoulder) out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. That likely leaves Jeremy Reaves as the starter in a secondary already down a bunch of CBs. The team also this week placed FS Montae Nicholson and CB Quinton Dunbar on IR. CB Fabian Moreau has also continued to miss practice this week and looks unlikely to play. It all creates a strong matchup for Dallas QB Dak Prescott, TE Jason Witten and the WRs. Only Prescott's shoulder injury stands as a question mark here, but it's certainly not enough to push him out of starter territory.
Washington S Landon Collins (Achilles') is active for today's game against the Giants. He should see plenty of tackle opportunities in a secondary that won't play any of its top 3 corners.
Washington S Landon Collins took part in practice this week, marking his return to the field following shoulder surgery. HC Jay Gruden told the Washington Post that the team is "still very cautious" with its key free-agent signing but that Collins is taking part in 7-on-7 drills and that they hope to have no limitations by training camp.
New Washington S Landon Collins doesn't seem to think his December shoulder surgery will be an issue for the coming season. "I'm way ahead of it," Collins told The Washington Times, when asked about his recovery and rehab. "It's definitely on schedule." The big contract certainly seems to indicate the team isn't worried. Barring some training camp setback, expect to find Collins near the top of our 2019 DB rankings.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Washington has reached a 6-year, $84 million agreement with S Landon Collins, including $45 million guaranteed over the 1st 3 years. That's a record for annual average and guaranteed money at the position. Collins should certainly have a shot to continue ranking among the top IDP options in his new home. The Giants, meanwhile, gain a significant hole at the position, behind a shaky LB corps.
