Ravens QB Joe Flacco (hip) is active for today’s game against the Bucs. He’ll back up rookie Lamar Jackson and isn’t expected to have a package of plays. Flacco should only see the field if Jackson gets hurt or struggles mightily.
The Jets have signed QB Joe Flacco to a 1-year deal. It's worth $1.5 million with another $3 million available through incentives. Flacco is still recovering from April neck surgery and isn't expected to be cleared until "mid-September," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. A healthy Flacco should slide in as QB Sam Darnold's backup. Darnold has dealt with a sprained foot, mono, a toe injury and another foot injury through 2 NFL seasons.
The Broncos have released QB Joe Flacco. The 35-year-old is expected to be ready for the 2020 season after missing the 2nd half of 2019 with a neck injury but will surely need to settle for a backup job on the open market. Denver is moving forward with QB Drew Lock, who has some upside as a late-round fantasy pick after an encouraging finish to his rookie campaign.
The Broncos have placed QB Joe Flacco (neck) on IR, ending his 2019 season. It'll be Brandon Allen under center for the Broncos, presumably until rookie QB Drew Lock is ready to return from his thumb injury.
Broncos HC Vic Fangio announced Monday that QB Joe Flacco will miss Week 9 with a neck injury suffered in yesterday's loss to the Colts. Rookie QB Drew Lock still isn't ready to return from his thumb injury, so it'll be Brandon Allen under center for Denver. The 2016 6th-rounder has never taken a regular-season snap and averaged 6.2 yards per attempt with 0 TDs and 3 INTs this preseason. As poorly as Flacco has played, this is a downgrade for Denver's offense.
Update: Flacco has a herniated disc in his neck, according to insider Jeff Lewold. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that Flacco is expected to miss "significant time." He's droppable in all fantasy leagues.
The Ravens and Broncos have agreed to a trade that will send QB Joe Flacco to Denver, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal can't be made official until the new league year starts on March 13. Flacco had flashes of elite play in Baltimore, but his 11 seasons there are best described as mediocre. He sports a career 61.7% completion rate, 6.7 yards per attempt and 212 TDs vs. 136 INTs. Flacco is clearly heading to Denver to take over as the Broncos' starter, though, which means the end of the Case Keenum Era. Considering Flacco is 34, this move shouldn't take Denver out of the running to select a QB in the 1st round of this spring's draft. Note that the Broncos can get out of Flacco's contract after the 2019 season with 0 dead money.
Update: The Ravens will receive Denver's 4th-round pick in this year's draft in exchange for Flacco.
