The Bears have agreed to a 1-year deal with RB Damien Williams, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 29-year-old (as of April 3) spent 2 seasons with the Chiefs before opting out of 2020 over COVID concerns. Williams shined over late-season stretches in both of those years but totaled just 161 regular-season carries and 53 receptions over those 2 campaigns. He previously played under new Bears OC Bill Lazor in Miami but totaled a mere 51 rushes and 60 targets over those 2 shared seasons. Williams will join a Chicago backfield that finds David Montgomery heading into his 3rd season and coming off a torrid fantasy finish to 2020, plus Tarik Cohen coming off a September ACL tear. We'll see how all these pieces fit together, but we don't head toward 2021 with big expectations for the former Chief.
The agent for RB Damien Williams said Thursday his client is signing with the Falcons, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a 1-year contract, which doesn't lock Williams into anything. We'll see about the money, but it's tough to expect much. Atlanta surely isn't done supplying its backfield. We wouldn't bother with Williams in best-ball drafts for now -- other than as an occasional end-of-draft consideration.
The Bears have ruled RB Damien Williams (knee) out for Monday night's game against the Steelers. That doesn't really matter for the touch counts of other Chicago backs, especially with David Montgomery looking likely to return.
Bears RB Damien Williams is questionable to return to Sunday's game vs. the 49ers after suffering a 1st-half knee injury. Stay tuned for an update.
Bears RB Damien Williams is active for today’s game against the Bucs. He was just activated from the COVID list on Saturday, so it’s uncertain how big a role he’ll play today. We’d try not to use Williams in Week 7 fantasy lineups. Bears RB Khalil Herbert is a better bet.
The Bears have activated RB Damien Williams from the COVID list. That makes him available to play Sunday against the Buccaneers, where he'll likely split work with Khalil Herbert. Exactly how Chicago will split that work won't be clear until the game happens. The pair has shared just 1 game since David Montgomery went down. Herbert carried 18 times to Williams' 16 in that contest, with Williams getting all 3 of the pass targets between them.
