Seahawks HC Pete Carroll called RBs Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny "a one-two punch" heading into 2019. That's not what we saw last year, when Carson maintained clear lead duties throughout the season. But Penny showed well in limited action, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. And Seattle thought highly enough of him to select him 27th overall last spring. "I don’t know who’s one and who’s two, it doesn’t matter to me. I thought both guys did a really good job this year," Carroll said from the Combine on Thursday. "They’re good football players and we love what they bring. They’re not the same, their running style are different, but there’s plenty of room for both of those guys, so I’m excited for both of them.” The touch distribution in Seattle's backfield will be a big fantasy storyline as we get into summertime.

Recent Shark Bites

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll admitted that RB Rashaad Penny's availability for the start of the 2020 season is in question. He tore multiple ligaments, including the ACL, in his left knee on December 8. "He’s got six or seven months ahead of him that are going to be really challenging," Carroll said. "We’ll have to wait and see." Penny remains a solid dynasty hold but is just a flier in the double-digit rounds of early best-ball drafts.

The knee injury that ended Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny's season was "more than just a normal ACL" tear, HC Pete Carroll said. Penny is facing an "extensive recovery," Carroll added. A clean ACL tear would have given Penny a decent chance to be ready for the start of the 2020 campaign -- but this news makes that a lot more iffy. We'll keep a close eye on his rehab.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny tore his left ACL in Sunday night's loss to the Rams, HC Pete Carroll announced Monday. That obviously ends Penny's season, and the timing could challenge his readiness for the start of 2020. We'll see about his progress over the summer. The injury makes RB Chris Carson an even clearer workhorse for upside matchups with Carolina and Arizona the next 2 weeks. C.J. Prosise was the only other Seattle back to play against the Rams, and he garnered just 1 touch.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny hurt his left knee in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game against the Rams and was quickly ruled out. That usually suggests a serious injury. We'll update Penny's status when we learn more. His absence turns Chris Carson back into an every-down back.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll suggested Monday that RB Rashaad Penny will remain involved going forward. He took on an increased role in the win over the Eagles and capitalized with 129 yards and a score on 14 carries. "Chris [Carson] is a guy who is a big part of our team and we’ll do everything we can (for him)," Carroll said. "Competition is a beautiful thing and no reason not to get (Penny) back in there next week. We'll get those guys hammering away." Note that after Carson's lost fumble on Sunday -- his 4th of the season -- Penny out-carried Carson 5 to 0. We'll look for more clues on what this backfield will look like going forward, but we'll probably just be guessing how carries will be split in next Monday night's game against the Vikings.
